Mbekezeli Mbokazi’s outstanding start to the 2025/26 season has not gone unnoticed, with the hard-tackling centre back being named Player of the Month for August.
The 19-year-old has been a constant presence in the Buccaneers’ starting lineup, featuring in all eight competitive fixtures so far. He even took on the captain’s armband in the absence of Nkosinathi Sibisi, who is recovering from a knee injury.
Mbokazi’s fine form has also earned him a senior national team call-up. He played a crucial role in Bafana Bafana’s 3-0 victory over neighbours Lesotho in a recent World Cup Qualifier. He and his fellow Buccaneers are now set to face Nigeria in Bloemfontein tomorrow in another exciting clash.
